What do AFL Legend Nick Riewoldt and determined unicyclist Samuel Johnson have in common? They both helped build charities for their sisters! Nick and Maddie’s story hit Samuel where it hurts and he is hell-bent on doing his bit to help Nick raise the profile of the emerging MRV.
Take away the ‘Saint’ and the idolatry from a sports-obsessed public and you find a young bloke called Nick who lost his sister and saw his first child born within a really short space of time. Nick’s sister Maddie got really sick. They thought she was clear. Then everything went south, quickly. Badly. All of a sudden a ‘Premiership’ must’ve seemed pretty small.
Samuel chased down Nick at ‘Maddie’s Match’ and basically begged him to be his friend. They had a breakfast meeting and got along like a firey house. They’ve cooked up an idea…
